APSS 2026 – Save the Date

“Ethical production of poultry products via a futuristic lens”

The Australian Poultry Science Symposium (APSS) is the premier avian science conference in Australasia and attracts delegates from right across the country and around the World. Each year (usually in February), APSS is collaboratively organised by the University of Sydney – Poultry Research Foundation and the World’s Poultry Science Association – Australian Branch, with an organising committee also assembled to include key industry stakeholders. The symposium is renowned for is vast array of industry relevant science and also for the excellent opportunities it affords the next generation of poultry scientists.

APSS 2026 marks the 37th edition of the symposium, and after a very well received move in 2025, it will again be held at The University of Sydney Business School – Belinda Hutchinson Building (H70). The organising committee has decided to maintain the exclusively in-person format for next year’s event. We are however planning to release a recorded virtual version of the symposium post-event, which will enable those unable to attend in person to access the presentations, as well as for those who did attend to review information that may have been relevant to them.

The official scientific program will begin Monday at lunchtime, with check-in opening from 9:00 AM that morning. This schedule provides delegates the opportunity to arrive in Sydney on Monday morning, manage any business or emails before the symposium and connect socially ahead of the formal program. Morning tea and lunch will still be provided for all delegates on Monday. Please note that, due to the later start on Monday, presentations will again continue through to late Wednesday afternoon to accommodate all contributing authors.

The central theme of APSS 2026 will be “Ethical Production of Poultry Products Through a Futuristic Lens.” As always, the symposium will showcase an exceptional lineup of local and international speakers, carefully selected by the organising committee to share their expert insights on the most pressing and forward-thinking topics in the poultry industry.

We warmly welcome researchers from around the globe to submit and present a wide variety of scientific papers rich in industry-relevant content and pioneering research.

Our vibrant social program will feature highlights such as the Mentoring Meet and Greet, Monday Night BBQ & Poster Session, and the Tuesday Night Symposium Dinner. These events, along with generous lunch and tea breaks, create valuable opportunities for networking—something APSS is proudly known for.

Past Attendee Feedback:
Excellent invited speakers and great networking opportunities (as usual). The venue facilitates satellite meetings and that was extremely useful.
